De Cardanaskoppeling gebruikt de kenmerken van zijn mechanisme, zodat de twee schachten niet op dezelfde as zijn, en de verbonden twee schachten kunnen onophoudelijk op de voorwaarde van de inbegrepen hoek tussen de assen worden geroteerd, en de torsie en de motie kunnen regelmatig worden overgebracht.
